  • LOCATION: Zambia and Kenya

Images from both Zambia and Kenya in 2011. During the month of December of this year I worked in Zambia with ALERT (African Lion and Environmental Research Trust). ALERT works throughout Africa to promote the development of sustainable conservation management plans for lions. My tenure involved assisting with the Captive Breeding & Release Program in a number of capacities, including photography.

The second wing of my trip involved a trip to Kenya, and a stay at Elsa’s Kopje, an incredible lodge nestled into a rocky hill (or kopje) in Meru Park, a magnificent national reserve covering an area of 870 square kilometers. The park is home to the story of Elsa the lioness, made famous by the 1960 book “Born Free”, written by Joy Adamson, and the 1966 film of the same name.
