“Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected.” – Robert Frank
Many of the world’s greatest photographers have — at one time or another — had something poetic to say about the power of black and white photography. It symbolizes, in perhaps the purest possible form, the duality of life; distilling one’s subject down to its barest essence without the distractions of color. This gallery — updated regularly — contains an eclectic mix of some of my favorite black and white images from a cross-section of genres.
